Women's Crew Takes Ninth At Patriot League Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Loyola University Maryland women’s rowing team competed in its inaugural race day at the Patriot League Championships on Friday at Lake Oquinsigamond.
The Greyhounds finished ninth, totaling six points on the day, while Boston University took home the team title.
The women’s varsity eight kicked off competition early Friday morning, taking fifth in the first heat of the championships. Coxswain Lindsay Superczynski, Eleni Papadatos, Megan Rabenberg, Amanda Fleck, Alyssa Villani, Dakota Corvalan, Gabrielle Campitiello, Carly McMahon and Kelly Gregitis ended up finishing third in the petite finals with a time of 8:53.44.
Lindsay Hilliard, Shannon Connelly, Melissa Cortes, Colleen Metzler, Nicollette Ruiz, Tara Sweeney, Megan Lothian, Sofia Pinheiro and cox Emily Arcese guided Loyola to a fifth-place finish in the first heat of the women’s second varsity eight. The crew went on to take third in the petite final, crossing the finish line in 9:16.61.
The women’s varsity four of coxswain Serena Rivera, Carter Lahey, Jordan Culver, Rachel Yuhas and Colleen Hanna qualified for the petite finals, putting together a petite final time of 10:33.46. The crew finished third behind Bucknell and Colgate.
