Women's Pair, Varsity Four Move On To Semis At Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland women's rowing varsity pair and varsity four boats moved into the semifinals at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa., after performing well in their respective qualifying races on Friday. The semifinals and finals will be held on Saturday.
The women's pair Women's pair of Margaret Ajello and Kathleen Sweeney finished third in their heat with a time of 8:45.077. The pair beat teams from Drexel, Sacred Heart and Rutgers Camden and will compete in the semifinals on Saturday morning.
The Greyhound women's varsity four took second in its qualifying heat in 8:01.763, beating out Pittsburgh and Manhattan and pushing Robert Morris down the course from wire to wire. The squad consisted of Katherine Griffin, Catriona Miller, Andrea Almeida, Clara Coleman and Julianne Roccuzzo. They will face North Carolina, Fordham, Oklahoma City, Temple and Buffalo on Saturday.
The men's varsity four of coxswain Thomas Quinn, Christopher Golon, Ryan Walsh, Joe Wawrzynski and Jordan Mastera finish third in their qualifying heat in a time of 7:03.280. Penn State placed first in the heat, with the Greyhounds finishing ahead of La Salle.
The men's novice four of Amanda Adsit, Bryan Carney, Cooper Davis Craig Spicer and Walter Horan placed third in their qualifying heat, narrowly losing to Michigan and Washington College. The crew finished ahead of Georgia Tech, Stony Brook and Fordham.
The crew continues competition in the semifinals on Saturday morning in Philadelphia, Pa.
