Crew Rows Well At Bucknell Invitational
May. 2, 2005
Lewisburg, Pa. - Stroked by senior Will Farrell, Loyola's men's varsity four and eight boats each finished first to lead the Greyhounds at Saturday's Bucknell Invitational on the Susquehanna River in central Pennsylvania.
Loyola's men's varsity eight defeated Bucknell while the varsity four upended Susquehanna, Bucknell, and George Mason.
The Greyhound men's novice boats also rowed well at the eight and the four. Loyola's novice eight, rowing with a new configuration, rolled to a six second victory while the four took second behind Bucknell by 2.5 seconds.
Loyola's women's varsity eight grabbed third behind George Mason by two seconds and Bucknell by 10 seconds as the varsity four placed second in front of Susquehanna, but behind the Bison.
It was the same results for Loyola's women's novice crews with a third place finish in the eight and a second place showing in the four.
"We had a good row today," said Loyola Head Coach Al Ramirez. "The team put out a good effort today against a quality program in Bucknell. We're looking forward to the Mid-Atlantic Championship this weekend."
