Men's Varsity Four Takes Sixth In Petite Final

April 14, 2013

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Loyola University Maryland men’s varsity four boat finished sixth in the petite final of the Knecht Cup Sunday morning on the Cooper River.

“It is disappointing that we fell behind crews that we beat yesterday,” said head coach Al Ramirez. “Our stroke had to be replaced overnight, and our spare rower Michael Blume had to step up to the occasion. Overall I’m pleased with the last minute change.”

After strong performances Saturday, April 13, Blume, Bryan Carney, Walter Horan, Craig Spicer, and cox Patrick Flynn qualified for the final with times of 7:06.03 and 7:05.14 in the semifinals.

Wentworth boat took first, while Pittsburgh and Fairfield took second and third.

The Greyhounds travel back to Cherry Hill next weekend to compete in the Kerry Cup on Saturday, April 20.
