Men's Varsity Four Qualifies For Knecht Cup Petite Final
April 13, 2013
CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Loyola University Maryland rowing teams turned in strong performances at the highly competitive Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, N.J., on Saturday afternoon.
The men’s varsity four had the best showing of the afternoon, qualifying for both the semifinal and petite final round on the Cooper River.
“Coxswain Pat Flynn says the boat has been pushing themselves to race more efficiently at a higher tempo and he can feel the improvements,” said head coach Al Ramirez. “ We had the same lineup as last weekend hoping to make improvements, and the boat was able to rise to the occasion and record the highest speed thus far of the season.”
The Greyhounds flew through the semifinals with an even better time of 7:05.14. The men will take on Fordham, Pittsburgh, Fairfield, Wentworth, and Drexel Sunday morning in the petite final.
The men’s varsity four will compete in the petite final Sunday, April 14 at 9:50 a.m.
