Pair Of Top-Five Finishes Closes Out Knecht Cup For Rowing
WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The Loyola University Maryland men’s novice rowers returned to Mercer Lake Sunday morning and put together a pair of top-five finishes at the Knecht Cup.
In the men’s novice eight semifinals, Daniel Lecce, Andrew Ramirez, Chris Rynne, Kunle’ Soniregun, Erik Magnuson, Ryan Elliott, Nick Trautwein, Jacob Landis and coxswain Mike Russo finished sixth to advance to the petite finals later in the afternoon. The Greyhounds returned to the water and out-raced boats from Penn State, Rhode Island and Pittsburgh to finish third in 6:48.84.
After qualifying for the grand finals Saturday afternoon, the men’s novice four crew of Russo, Landis, Rynne, Elliott and Trautwein finished ahead of Patriot League foes Bucknell and Lafayette to take fourth with a time of 7:21.38.
Loyola returns to action Saturday at the Kerr Cup Regatta in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
