Assistant Coach

In 2013, Greg Muir was named the assistant rowing coach at Loyola University Maryland.

"I am very excited to have Greg on board," head coach Al Ramirez said. "He comes to us with a solid background of rowing, and this definitely helps secure the confidence of our current rowers. Greg's patient demeanor and positive outlook will help our eager men's team reach the next level of performance, and will also help overcome the many challenges of rebuilding the women's team to NCAA championship roster size from the novice walk-on level."

Prior to Loyola, Muir was the men's varsity rowing coach at Oakton High School in Virginia, while also serving as an assistant coach for George Mason University's club crew team.

At Oakton, Muir's team was an SRA national semifinalist in 2012.

While with George Mason, he guided the varsity four to a third place finish at the ACRA national championship in both 2012 and 2013. The Patriot's novice four also placed fourth at the ACRA national championship in 2012.

"Greg has acquired a very broad range of coaching experiences that have given him critical experiences behind the megaphone," Ramirez said. "The coaching skills he developed over the last four years have helped his squads succeed at the collegiate, high school, and master's club levels."

Muir graduated from Yale University in December 2010 with a degree in Astronomy. While at Yale, he was three-year member of the heavyweight crew team.

Muir currently resides in Alexandria, VA.
