Katie Flickinger is in her seventh season as assistant crew coach at Loyola College. She works primarily with the women's varsity, where she played a key role in the 2004 MAAC Championship run.
Flickinger has withstood the test of time at Evergreen, dating back to 1999, her first year as an assistant coach. She produced very successful boats while she was the novice women's coach during her first four years at Loyola (1999-2003). Due to her work schedule and changes in the Greyhound practice schedule, she has shifted her focus to the varsity women.
Having coached everyone on the varsity squad before, the transition for Flickinger was very smooth and helpful to the staff. In fact, this past fall Flickinger raced in a lightweight boat with the Greyhounds.
A 1998 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Flickinger majored in cellular/molecular biology and veterinary and animal sciences while rowing on the varsity squad four years of her collegiate career. She helped UMass win an impressive three consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference titles and captained the women's crew her senior season.
Flickinger is single and currently resides in Baltimore. Away from Loyola, she works as supervisor of autopsy pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She also teaches autopsy pathology to first-year resident and medical students at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center.
