When was the Patriot League formed?
The conference was formed in 1984 and began play in 1986 as a football-only league known as the "Colonial League". In 1990, the conference formally changed its name to the "Patriot League" and began competition as an all-sports league with 22 sports (11 for men, 11 women).

What institutions were charter members of the Patriot League and what schools will comprise the membership in 2013-2014?
Charter members of the Patriot League were Bucknell University, Colgate University, Fordham University, College of the Holy Cross, Lafayette College, Lehigh University and the United States Military Academy. The United States Naval Academy joined in 1991, and Fordham left in 1995; American University then became a full member in 2001. Boston University will join the Patriot League with Loyola in 2013, bringing the full membership to 10: American, Army, Boston University, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola and Navy. 

What is the governance structure of the Patriot League?
The Patriot League is governed by three committees: the Council of Presidents, the Policy Committee, and the Committee on Athletic Administration. Standing and/or ad hoc governance committees may be established by the Council of Presidents, as deemed necessary. Appointments to these committees are made by the Executive Committee of the Council. The League's Executive Director is responsible for the administrative functions associated with committee operations.

What school(s) host the Patriot League Championships?
Hosting of League Championships varies by sport. The championships of men's and women's cross country, men's golf, women's rowing, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis and women's indoor and outdoor track and field are held at rotating sites that are predetermined before the year. The quarterfinals matchups for men's and women's lacrosse and soccer are held at the highest seeds playing in the games (Nos. 3 and 4 seeds), and the semifinals and championship game will be held at the regular-season champion. All games in the men's and women's basketball championships are played at the highest seeded school in the particular game. Following is a list of pre-determined championship hosts.
