July 1 Marks Loyola's Official Move To Patriot League
When Loyola announced on August 29, 2012, that it would join the Patriot League for the 2013-2014 academic year, it was a move that would take place in more than 10 months.
That time has flown by, and it is now July 1, the official start of the Greyhounds' conference realignment. Join LoyolaGreyhounds.com in celebrating the occasion as we learn more about Loyola's nine Patriot League peers: American University, Bucknell University, Colgate University, College of the Holy Cross, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy and fellow League 2013-2014 addition Boston University.
Also, July 1 was declared Patriot League Day in Baltimore, Maryland, by City Council President Bernard C. "Jack" Young. View the resolution by clicking here.
Seventeen of Loyola's varsity athletics teams - men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, women's indoor and outdoor track and field and women's volleyball - will begin competition in the Patriot League during the upcoming academic year. The League does not conduct a championship in the men's rowing, but Loyola will continue to row a regionally competitive schedule.
