Camaioni Named First-Team All-Conference

Nov. 21, 2009

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Loyola University Maryland junior outside hitter Nina Camaioni was named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Team today by a vote of the league's coaches following a record-breaking season.

Camaioni became the first player in Loyola history to top the 500-kill mark in a single-season. She finished the year with 539 kills, an average of 4.49 per set. Camaioni, who was the MAAC Rookie of the Year and earned All-MAAC Second Team laurels in 2007, hit .239 and was also a solid defensive player for the Greyhounds.

In addition to leading the team in kills, Camaioni was second on the team with 343 digs, 2.86 per set.

Camaioni, who topped the 1,000-kill mark for her career earlier in the season, is 13th in NCAA Division I in kills per set and 24th in points per set (4.85) through November 15.

She helped the Greyhounds improve from 8-25 in 2008 to 15-18 and a fifth-place finish in the MAAC in 2009, a seven-game improvement.

Joining Camaioni on the All-MAAC First Team were the MAAC Player of the Year, Bugrandy McCurty of Siena, Fairfield's Katie Mann, Niagara's Hannah Hedrick and Michelle James, and Siena's Aubrey Bobo.

Camaioni, junior libero Brittany Born and senior middle blocker Karlee Woodward were also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
