Volleyball Gets Early Commitment From Marci Williams

Baltimore, Md. - Loyola volleyball coach Kristina Hernandez announced today the signing of Marci Williams for the 2005 season. Williams, a setter from Highland Ranch, Colo., is Hernandez' first recruit during the early-signing period.

"Marci comes to us as one of the top high school players in the country," says Hernandez. "She's a very level-headed player with great instincts. She really knows how to run a game."

Williams led Thunder Ridge High School to four regional championships and was a regional all-star in 2001 and 2002. She was also a first-team all-league selection her junior and seniors seasons and is ranked among the Top-200 high school volleyball recruits by

At the club level, Williams played for the Colorado Performance where she won a Junior Olympic Gold as a starter in 2001 and Junior Olympic Bronze as a starter in 2003. She was also selected to the USA Volleyball High Performance camp in 2002, where she was trained by the Junior Olympic coaching staff.

"Marci has the ability to step right in and contribute to this team," says Hernandez. "We're very lucky to have her come here."

The Greyhounds finished the season very strong for first-year Head Coach Kristina Hernandez. Loyola won five of its last seven games and ended the season with a 10-18 overall record.
