Wrapping Up

  • Loyola University Maryland will wrap-up the 2012 volleyball season this weekend with a pair of games in Reitz Arena.

Celebrating Seniors

  • Sunday will be the final match for two outstanding seniors, Katie Dircks and Janet Pressler. Entering this weekend, the duo has combined for more than 840 kills, 145 aces, 1,735 digs, 110 blocks and 1,050 total points.
  • They will graduate in the spring with their degrees from Loyola in elementary education (Dircks) and psychology (Pressler).

Looking Back

  • Loyola played a single match last weekend after the contest schedule for Saturday at Iona College was cancelled due to effects of Superstorm Sandy.
  • The Greyhounds lost in three on Sunday afternoon at Fairfield University where the Stags hit .398 for the game and had four players with eight or more kills in the match.

Where We’ve Come From

  • Thus far, the Greyhounds have engineered a five-win improvement over 2011’s 8-23 finish. After being projected to finish eighth in the preseason Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference poll by the league’s coaches, the Greyhounds can finish as high as sixth this season.
  • Statistically, Loyola has made several improvements over a year ago: hitting percentage (2012: .199; 2011: .145), kills per set (12.73; 10.71), assists per set (11.95, 10.71), receiving errors (122; 186), digs per set (15.47; 13.11), blocks per set (1.52; 1.23) and total points scored (1552; 1522).
  • These stats have also come in five fewer games to date.

Top Of Her Game

  • Junior middle blocker Jac Bullock continues to lead the MAAC in hitting percentage this season with a .350 mark in 26 matches. She is also seventh in kills per set (3.22) and is the tops amongst league middle blockers in that category.
  • She logged career-highs in kills (22) and hitting percentage (.618) on October 14 as Loyola topped Marist. Her 22 kills came on just 34 attempts, and she had only one error. Her .618 hitting percentage was the best by a MAAC player this season, and her 22 kills were tied for eighth.
  • In conference play this season, Bullock has leads the MAAC with a .365 hitting percentage, and from the service line, Bullock also leads the conference in aces per set with 0.44.
  • Her streak of 14-straight matches with 10 or more kills was snapped last Sunday at Fairfield.
