BALTIMORE, Md. - Joining a group of Loyola soccer players, junior outside hitter Nina Camaioni was named TO ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA's academic all-district team for her achievements on the court and in the classroom.
Camaioni was named to the District II second-team and it is the second academic honor of her career, as she was named to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's all-academic team last year.
The global studies major from Williamstown, N.J., leads the `Hounds on the court as Loyola's kill leader and off, with a 3.80 GPA. Camaioni has led the Greyhounds in kills and kills per set for two years running, and is currently ranked second in the MAAC and 19th in Division I with 4.39 kills per set. She is also ranked No. 32 in the country in points per set (4.70).
Defensively, Camaioni is also one of the Greyhounds' primary passers and is second on the team with 279 digs and holds Loyola's single-match dig record of 36.
Camaioni has earned six weekly awards from the MAAC as well as one from the East Coast Athletic Conference. As a freshman in 2007, Camaioni was named MAAC Rookie of the Year and garnered second-team accolades.
