Baltimore - Loyola University Maryland women's volleyball senior Nina Camaioni was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District II First Team for her accomplishment on the court and in the classroom, announced today.
She is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration in voting that will take place in the coming weeks.
Camaioni from Williamstown, N.J., has 3.83 grade point average in global studies. This is the second year that Camaioni has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All District II First Team and in 2008 she was named ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All District II Second Team.
Camaioni broke the school's career kills record, set by Becky Corb from 2002-2005, on October 17. Camaioni has 1,703 kills so far this season eclipsing Corb's old mark of 1,629. So far this season, she has 416 kills, 304 digs, 34 serving aces and 29 blocks. She holds the season school record with 539 kills set last season. She holds the school record for digs in a match with 36 set in 2007.
