Edison, N.J. - Loyola junior Becky Corb was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday after leading the Greyhounds to two consecutive wins - including their first MAAC win - this past week.
Corb, a 5'10" outside hitter from Stratford, Conn., posted 12 kills on a .478 hitting percentage during Loyola's 3-0 victory over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Wednesday, October 27th.
The Greyhounds' top hitter turned in an encore performance on Saturday night against Rider when she nailed down 29 kills on a .478 hitting percentage as Loyola edged the Broncs 3-1 for its first MAAC win of the year.
Corb is the first Loyola volleyball player to receive the MAAC Player of the Week Award since Mary Hamsher received the award during the 2002 season.
Loyola is on a two-match win streak and has already eclipsed its win total from 2003. The Greyhounds are currently 7-16 overall and 1-4 in the MAAC.
