EDISON, N.J. - Loyola College freshman outside hitter Nina Camaioni was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week today, the league office announced.
The award is the fourth of the season for Camaioni, who leads the Greyhounds (19-10 overall, 10-4 MAAC) in kills (388) and kills per game (3.53) this season.
In Loyola's two matches this weekend, Camaioni averaged 4.57 kills, 5.29 digs and 1.29 blocks per game, as the Greyhounds beat Canisius and Niagara to sweep the season series from both schools.
Against Canisius, Camaioni recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 30 digs. She also had four assists, an ace and tied her career-high with six total blocks in the match.
She had even better attack numbers against the Purple Eagles, registering 17kills, 12 in the last two games, as the Greyhounds swept Niagara in three. She posted seven digs and had three blocks, one solo.
The award is the fourth of Camaioni's career and fifth of the season for a Loyola player.
