BALTIMORE, Md. - Coming off an impressive four-game win over Rider University on Saturday afternoon, the Greyhound volleyball team goes back on the road on Wednesday night for a non-conference match against Lafayette College beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Now 5-15 on the season, the Greyhounds won their MAAC opener for the second time in three years with a victory over the Broncs at Alumni Gym. Senior outside hitter Becky Corb recorded a match-high 24 kills to lead the Greyhounds to the victory. During the first game, she set the school career kills record with the 1,437th kill of her career, which tied the game at 27-27. She now has 1,456 kills in her four-year career and ranks fourth in the MAAC in kills per game.
Senior libero Jamie Arndt also reached a personal milestone in the win over Rider. She recorded a match-high 20 digs, including the 1,000th of her college career, in the victory. She leads the squad and is ranked third in the conference in digs per game (4.67). She has 1,013 digs in her four-year career.
Senior Christine Lopez had a season-high 13 kills in the victory on Saturday, including the 500th of her college career. She has 510 kills in her Greyhound career.
Following a three-game sweep over Providence on Saturday afternoon, the Leopards are currently 12-9 on the season and have won two straight matches. Junior outside hitter Veronica Canto-Ponce led Lafayette to the victory with a match-high 17 kills and 11 digs. She leads the team with 275 kills, while ranking second with 220 digs. Sophomore Michaela Donohue ranks second in kills (202), but leads the squad with 291 digs.
The Greyhounds return home on Saturday evening to start a three-match homestand. Loyola will return to MAAC action against Manhattan on Saturday before hosting Saint Peter's on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
