Coming Up This Week
  • The Loyola University Maryland volleyball team will host a trio of matches over the next week, welcoming American University, Bucknell University and Colgate University to Reitz Arena.
  • Loyola starts the three-match homestand on Wednesday, Oct. 8, with a 7:00 p.m. match against American, an NCAA Round of 16 participant last year.
  • Bucknell and Colgate follow the Eagles into Reitz Arena on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11 and 12. Both matches will commence at 2:00 p.m.

Lukas Leads Offense
  • Jane Lukas had a solid weekend hitting from the outside against College of the Holy Cross and the U.S. Military Academy, earning Patriot League Honor Roll recognition after averaging 4.33 kills per set in the two matches.
  • The sophomore from Stockertown, Pa., had 14 kills against the Crusaders and 12 versus the Black Knights.
  • Lukas is second on the team with 2.84 kills per set this season and leads the Greyhounds with 165 overall.
  • As a freshman in 2013, Lukas finished the season with 176 total kills in 95 sets while averaging 1.85 per. She has also raised her hitting percentage by nearly 50 points this year.

Cichosz Back From Injury
  • After missing a two-plus weeks of action, the Greyhounds’ leading outside hitter, freshman Molly Cichosz, returned to the lineup Sept. 25 against Lehigh.
  • The native of Washington state was injured early in the Sept. 6 match versus Saint Francis and missed seven matches before coming back against the Mountain Hawks.
  • In her first two Patriot League matches, Cichosz led the team with 19 total kills, 2.71 per set.
  • This season, in 10 contests, she has 123 kills. Her 3.51 kills per set average not only leads the Greyhounds and the Patriot League, but it is 0.37 pet set better than the No. 2 player (American’s Kelly McCaddin) in the League’s statistical category.
