Edison, NJ - Loyola volleyball player Christina Greenup was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week for the dates of September 26th through October 3rd as announced by the conference offices on Monday afternoon.
Greenup helped lead the Greyhounds to a 1-1 record this past week after recording 15 kills on a .645 hitting percentage, six service aces and three block assists.
During Tuesday night's 3-0 win over Coppin State, Greenup posted eight kills on a near perfect .889 hitting percentage. Greenup continued her stellar play in Sunday night's 3-0 loss to Robert Morris as she nailed down seven kills on a .400 hitting percentage and notched three block assists.
A freshman from Malibu, Calif., Greenup is third on the team in kills with 105 and third in service aces with 13 while she leads Loyola in blocks, averaging .45 per game.
Greenup has helped guide Loyola to wins in two of its last four matches to boost the Greyhounds' record to 4-11 on the season.
The Greyhounds return to action Tuesday, October 5th when they head to Towson to take on the Tigers in a non-conference match at 7:30 p.m.
