Returning To Reitz
  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball returns to Reitz Arena for the first time since Tuesday, Sept. 8, for a pair of Patriot League contests this weekend.
  • The Greyhounds will host the U.S. Military Academy at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, and College of the Holy Cross on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Making Strides Statistically
  • Through 17 matches this season, Loyola has not only shown a three-win improvement over all of last season, the Greyhounds have taken steps statistically that have shown progress.
  • Last year, the team hit just .127 cumulatively, but this year, that number is up 53 points to .180, a mark that ranks fifth in the Patriot League. Loyola has raised its kills (11.17-10.54) and assists (10.19-9.94), too, but the biggest gap is the cut in errors per set. The Greyhounds have dropped more than one error per set this year, 5.31 as opposed to last year’s 6.34.
  • Loyola’s blocking has also been considerably better than last year. The Greyhounds are also fifth in the league in blocks per set (2.02) after averaging just 1.19 last year.

Freshmen Making An Impact
  • Freshmen Haley Puddy and Molly Werts have been key players for the Greyhounds this year through 17 matches. Puddy leads Patriot League freshmen in hitting percentage (.306) and blocks per set (1.06), stats that she ranks sixth and fifth overall in the conference.
  • Puddy’s 68 total blocks rank seventh amongst NCAA Division I freshmen. In that same group, she is eighth nationally in total points (215.5).
  • Werts has been the Greyhounds’ setter this year, averaging 8.54 assists per set, the No. 5 mark overall, and she is tied for fourth on the team in kills (56).

On The Outside
  • Stacey Kazalas and Molly Cichosz have posted near identical numbers this year from their respective outside hitter positions with only two kills and one hitting percentage point separating the pair.
  • Kazalas has posted 194 kills, 98 errors, 617 attempts and a .156 hitting percentage, while Cichosz is at 192-100-585-.157. Kazalas has averaged 2.28 digs per set, while Cichosz averaged 0.53 blocks.
