EDISON, N.J. - Loyola College freshman outside hitter Nina Camaioni was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced today.
Camaioni averaged 4.60 kills per game in three matches last week, setting a career-high with 19 in the Greyhounds' four-game victory on Sunday at Iona College.
Earlier in the week, the Williamstown, N.J., native posted 16 kills in three games, as Loyola (12-8 overall, 4-2 MAAC) defeated Wagner.
Camaioni had double-doubles in both matches with 10 digs against Wagner and 17 versus Iona. She also led the Greyhounds with 11 kills in their loss Saturday at Fairfield.
Thus far, Camaioni has led the Greyhounds in kills with 262, an average of 3.40 per game. She is also second on the team with 282 digs (3.66 per game) and tops the squad with 30 service aces. She ranks seventh in the MAAC in kills per game.
The award is the second of the season for Camaioni who was also honored as Rookie of the Week on September 10. It is the third of the season for a Loyola volleyball player, as libero Brittany Born was named Rookie of the Week on September 17.
