BALTIMORE, Md. - After playing in their third and final tournament of the regular season, the Greyhound volleyball team continues its six-match road trip on Tuesday night with a non-conference match against LaSalle University at Tom Gola Arena beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Now 2-11 on the season, the Greyhounds lost four tough matches at last weekend's SpringHill Suites Classic at Charlotte, including a five-game marathon against Davidson in Loyola's tournament finale. Five different players recorded 10 or more digs in the loss for Loyola, including senior libero Jamie Arndt , who tied a season high with 28 digs. Senior outside hitter Becky Corb was named to the All-Tournament Team after amassing 69 kills with 39 digs in the four matches.
Senior setter Krystal Biegaj recorded 14 assists in the four matches for Loyola, including the 3,000th assist of her college career. She now has 3,002 career assists in three-plus seasons with the Greyhounds.
Corb leads the Greyhound offense with 161 kills after the outstanding effort at Charlotte. She stands in second place on the school's career list with 1,350 and needs 86 kills to tie the mark set by Sarah Becker, `94. She ranks third in the MAAC with 3.66 kills per game this season.
Arndt leads the Greyhounds with 191 digs on the year and has a chance to reach 1,000 career digs this season. She has 882 career digs while Corb has 889 career digs entering Tuesday's match.
The Explorers are 6-5 on the season after winning one of three matches at the Cornell University Tournament over the weekend. Freshman Christa Dominick was named to the All-Tournament Team after recording 15 kills with just two errors in the three-game sweep over Colgate. She leads the team with 161 kills and has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice this season. Stephanie Owen has also been a major force on the Explorer offense with 110 kills this season.
Loyola will be idle this weekend and returns to action next Tuesday night in the final match of its six-match road trip against Robert Morris at 7:00 p.m. The Greyhounds return home next Thursday night to host Morgan State at Reitz Arena.
