Coming Up This Weekend
  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball travels to Loretto, Pennsylvania, this weekend for its final in-season tournament of 2014, the Red Flash Classic hosted by Saint Francis (Pa.) University.
  • The Greyhounds will open the tournament on Friday, Sept. 19, with a 5 o’clock match versus George Mason University. They then play a pair of Saturday contests, starting with one versus nearby Morgan State University at 11 a.m. Loyola wraps up play that evening against the host Red Flash at 7 p.m.

Lukas Back In The Swing
  • After being limited by an injury earlier in the year, sophomore outside hitter saw her attack opportunities pick up considerably last weekend at the Coastal Carolina Tournament where she earned All-Tournament honors.
  • Lukas took 120 swings in three matches and put away 32 kills to lead the Greyhounds in both categories. She averaged 3.2 kills per set, and her 59 attempts in a four-set match against the University of Tennessee were a career-high for the native of Stockertown, Pennsylvania.

Kazalas Gaining More Time
  • After posting 14 kills in the season-opening match against Coppin State University at the La Salle Invitational, freshman Stacey Kazalas did not have more than five kills in the next five matches, and she had 14 or more attempts just once in that stretch.
  • Last week, however, she matched her career-best with 14 kills in a three-set loss to Howard University, and she led Loyola with 40 attempts, also tying her career-high.
  • She then posted 10 kills in the Greyhounds four-set contest against Tennessee.

All-Around Contributions
  • Lauren Andersen is in her fourth year as the Greyhounds’ starting setter, posting 291 assists through 10 matches, an average of 8.08 per set.
  • The native Floridian has also been a solid defensive player for the Greyhounds, picking up 73 digs, 2.03 per set. Andersen also leads the Greyhounds with 10 service aces this season.
