Camaioni Named MAAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

EDISON, N.J. - Loyola College freshman outside hitter Nina Camaioni was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for Sept. 3-9, 2007, the conference office announced today.

Camaioni earned All-Tournament honors at College of Holy Cross' Crusader Classic, helping the Greyhounds to a 2-1 record. At the tournament, Camaioni had 14 kills in a four-game loss to Hartford and 13 in a five-game win against Holy Cross. She also had eight in a quick, three-game win over Coppin State.

In the Greyhounds' four matches last week - including a four-game loss to Towson - Camaioni led the team with 52 kills (3.25 kills per game) and 50 digs (3.12 dpg).

She posted three double-double performances with 10 or more kills and digs, including season-highs of 17 kills and 17 digs against Towson.

This season, she is second in the MAAC in total kills (152), ninth in kills per game (3.23) and sixth in service aces per game (0.45).

The Greyhounds are 6-6 and at .500 through 12 matches for the first time since 2002. They travel to the Buffalo area for their first MAAC matches of the season, playing Niagara on Saturday and Canisius on Sunday.
