Home Opener    

  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball hits the road for its second tournament of the season. The Greyhounds will play in the Dog Pound Challenge at the University of Connecticut on Friday, Sept. 9, and Saturday, Sept. 10. The event will be played in Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut.
  • The Greyhounds open the tournament against the host Huskies on Friday at 10 a.m., and they then take on Saint Francis Brooklyn College at 5 p.m. Loyola wraps up the even the event on Saturday with an 11 a.m. match against Yale University.


A Look Back    

  • Loyola turned a -.067 second-set hitting percentage into a .419 mark in the third on Tuesday night, pushing George Washington to a fourth set, but the visiting Colonials held on for 25-21, 25-12, 20-25, 25-22 non-conference victory.
  • Ann Ernst had 23 kills, while Erin Cunningham had a season-best 22 digs.


Twenty-Plus In Two    

  • Ann Ernst has established herself as a strong offensive presence early in her collegiate career. Through four matches and 14 sets, the freshman from Chicago leads the Patriot League with 4.71 kills per set, a total of 66.
  • Ernst has posted 24 and 23 kills in Loyola’s last two matches, contests against Akron University and George Washington University. She is the first player to record 20 or more in back-to-back matches since Molly Cichosz did it in 2014 with 22 against La Salle University on Aug. 30 and 25 versus Quinnipiac University Sept. 5.


Lukas Makes Debut    

  • Jane Lukas made her season debut Tuesday night against George Washington and wrapped up the night with seven kills and an equal amount of digs despite not playing the first set-and-a-half of action.
  • Lukas, who was second in the Patriot League in kills per set (3.25) as a sophomore, missed all but the last seven matches of 2015 with an injury.


Cunningham Leads Defense    

  • Freshman Erin Cunningham has led Loyola in digs in each of its first four matches, averaging 4.71 per set. She had a season-high 22 against the Colonials on Tuesday.
