Sept. 8, 2009

Edison, N.J. - Aubrey Kirven and Nina Camaioni played their way to MAAC weekly awards after helping lead the Greyhounds to a 3-1, second place finish this past weekend in the Battle of Baltimore.

Freshman setter Kirven (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors after another standout week for Loyola. Kirven was named to her first collegiate all-tournament team after tallying 146 assists, 30 digs, seven kills and two blocks in all 14 sets played in the Battle of Baltimore.

Kirven's 43 total assists against Towson were just three off her career-high of 46 that she established last weekend against Radford. In Loyola's upset win over Maryland, Kirven picked up a double-double with 41 assists, 11 digs and four kills.

Camaioni (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the team offensively all weekend.

Playing in all 14 sets, Camaioni lead the team with 70 kills and averaged 5.00 kills per set. The junior outside hitter posted a career-high 23 kills to open the weekend against Morgan State, went on to record 18 and 12 against Towson and Navy and capped off the weekend with 17 against the Terps.

Against Navy, Camaioni also picked up her fourth double-double of the season with 11 digs, averaged 2.36 per set on the weekend and also had a season-high four aces against the Mids. Camaioni was also named to the all-tournament team.

This is Camaioni's sixth MAAC weekly award, her first offensively.
