BALTIMORE, Md. - After suffering three straight losses at the George Mason University Patriot Invitational over the weekend, the Greyhound volleyball team (0-4) opens its home schedule against Coppin State University on Tuesday evening at Reitz Arena beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Now 0-4 on the season, the Greyhounds will host Coppin State before returning to the road this weekend for the Cal-Poly Tournament.
Senior outside hitter Becky Corb was named to the Patriot Invitational All-Tournament Team after recording 47 kills in three matches. Against George Mason on Saturday, she had a season-high 23 kills in the Greyhounds' four-game loss to the host Patriots. In three-plus seasons at Evergreen, Corb has tallied 1,241 kills, which is 195 shy of the school record, which is held by Sarah Becker, '94.
Freshman setter Marcellee Williams also had a strong showing during the tournament. In three matches, Williams registered 93 assists, including 35 against UMBC and George Mason. She also added 19 digs and seven kills.
Coppin State is opening its season against the Greyhounds after a 2-23 season a year ago. Shauniece Steward led the Greyhounds with 190 kills, while Krystal Williams had 1,289 assists as the team's starter. Coach Don Metil is in his first season at Coppin.
Last season, the Greyhounds earned a three-game victory over the Eagles. Corb led the Greyhounds with a match-high 10 kills to go with five digs while sophomore Christina Greenup added eight kills. Renee Bowen led the Eagles in the loss with seven kills and a pair of blocks.
