Back On The Road
  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball heads back on the road for its next tournament, traveling to High Point, North Carolina, for the HPU Classic sponsored by Hampton Inn.
  • The Greyhounds will take on Georgia State University, High Point University and South Carolina State University in the tournament that begins on Friday, Sept. 4.

Three-Set Win
  • Loyola opened its 2015 home schedule on Tuesday night with a three-set win over Howard University. Molly Cichosz led the Greyhounds’ offense with 14 kills, and Stacey Kazalas added 10, as Loyola posted its best hitting percentage of the season, .269.
  • The Greyhounds were strong defensively, as well, digging 49 balls, an average of 16.3 per set, and posting eight total blocks. The win flipped the script on the team’s 2014 meeting in which the Bison posted a three-set win over Loyola.

Attacking Efficiently
  • Loyola hit .357 in  its first set Tuesday against Howard, and the Greyhounds finished hitting at a .269 clip with 38 kills and only 11 errors. Last season, Loyola hit better than .269 just once when it swung .294 in a five-set victory over Quinnipiac University.
  • Tuesday night, all four players – Molly Cichosz (14), Stacey Kazalas (10), Haley Puddy (7) and Danielle Hillman (5) – who had five-plus kills hit .278 or better against Howard.

Puddy Earns All-Tournament Honors
  • Haley Puddy was named to the Robert Morris Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the Greyhounds with a .324 hitting percentage in the three matches. She posted 29 total kills, an average of 2.64 per set.
  • Puddy also had a team-high 11 total blocks, and she posted 12 digs in her first collegiate action.
  • In her first match, the Texas native hit .429 while recording 11 kills and four blocks. She followed that with 10 kills Saturday evening against Robert Morris.

Kazalas Leads In Kills
  • Stacey Kazalas has posted a team-best 46 kills in the first four matches of the year, leading Loyola with 3.29 kills per set. On Aug. 29 against Robert Morris, she matched her career-high of 14 kills, a number she hit twice as a freshman in 2014.
