Volleyball Tabbed Eighth In Preseason MAAC Poll

EDISON, N.J. - The Loyola University Maryland volleyball team was picked to finish eight in the preseason Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference poll, released today by the league office.

The conference’s coaches slotted the Greyhounds in the spot they finished the 2011 season when they compiled a 5-13 mark in the MAAC and went 8-23 overall.

Fairfield was picked to win the league, while three-time defending champion Niagara was tabbed second. Manhattan picked up the third place in the poll, followed by Siena, Canisius, Marist and Iona. Following the Greyhounds were Rider and Saint Peter’s. 

Loyola opens its 2012 season on Friday, August 24, at the Mountaineer Invitational in Morgantown, W.Va. The Greyhounds will play Central Connecticut at 4:30 p.m. in their first game of the season before taking on St. Francis (Pa.) and West Virginia the following day.
