Hernandez Named Chesapeake Region Youth National Team Assistant Volleyball Coach

Baltimore, Md. - Loyola head volleyball coach Kristina Hernandez was named the Chesapeake (Va.) Region Youth National Team's assistant coach. She will assist George Washington head coach Jojit Coronel with the first youth national team ever created by the Cheasapeake Region Volleyball Association.

"I am very honored to be selected as part of the coaching staff for the Regions first ever Youth National Team," Hernandez said. "It will be a great step forward for volleyball in this area"

The city of Austin, Texas, has been selected to host the 2005 USA Volleyball High Performance National Championships July 19-23 which the Chesapeake squad will compete in. The High Performance National Championships was created to give high-level athletes a means to compete in an international-like competition. The tournament field will consist of teams sponsored by Regional Programs of USA Volleyball. As has been in the past, efforts are ongoing to recruit teams from other countries to complete the International feel of the event.

Hernandez, in her first season as head coach of the Greyhounds in 2004, doubled the win total from the previous season with a record of 10-18
