Volleyball Falls To Iona In MAAC Fifth-Place Game

Orlando, Fla. - The Loyola women's volleyball team dropped a five-game heartbreaker to Iona on Saturday morning at the MAAC Championships in Orlando, Fla. The Greyhounds, who end the season with the 3-2 loss, place sixth overall in the final conference standings.

Saturday's fifth-place game was yet another highly-contested match for the `Hounds at this year's MAAC Championships. After winning the first game by a 30-24 count, the Greyhounds dropped back-to-back games by scores of 30-28.

Loyola forced a fifth game by winning Game Four, 30-22, and went the distance in Game five, eventually falling 16-14 to end the year.

Senior Blair Snyder led Loyola's effort with 22 kills, 32 digs and four service aces. Karlee Woodward added 14 kills while Maddie Fuller and Rachel Schillinger contributed 13 apiece.

Chrissey Cruz posted 60 assists in the match to close the season with 1186, while Nicole Scimeme had 26 digs for the Greyhounds.

Snyder, who played her last match at Evergreen, closes out the year as the team leader in kills with 393 and digs with 466. The Greyhounds end the season with an overall record of 10-26.
