Volleyball Stays Alive At MAAC Championships With 3-2 Win Over Saint Peter's

Orlando, Fla. - Maddie Fuller and Blair Snyder had 16 kills apiece to lead the Loyola women's volleyball team past St. Peter's College in the consolation bracket of the MAAC Championships on Friday afternoon. The Greyhounds won 3-2 to stay alive in the tournament.

The Greyhounds rallied from a 2-0 deficit, dropping Game One, 30-20 and Game Two, 30-27. Loyola rebounded in a third-game thriller that saw 19 kills from the `Hounds. Scoring 33 points, Loyola won 33-31 and went on to win Game Four by a 30-26 score to force a Game Five.

In the fifth and deciding game, the `Hounds and Peahens battled past 15 as Loyola persevered to clinch the match with a 16-14 victory in the set, which also had Loyola's best kill percentage at .318.

Karlee Woodward added 12 kills in the win while Chrissey Cruz posted 53 assists for the Greyhounds. Nicole Scimeme, who had a team-high 21 digs, also registered five service aces.

Loyola will play Iona in the consolation semifinals on Saturday at 10 a.m.
