Volleyball Falls to Siena, 3-1 in Season Finale

Loudonville, N.Y. - Junior Becky Corb tallied a game-high 19 kills but it would not be enough for Loyola to defeat Siena as the fell 3-1 to the Saints Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Recreation Center. The Greyhounds finish the 2004 season with a record of 10-28 and 3-6 in the metro Atlantic Athletic Conference while Siena finished 9-17 and 2-7.

The Saints won the first two games 30-26 and 30-24 before suffering Loyola seized momentum and took game three 30-19. The Greyhounds also held several leads in the decisive fourth game before the Saints rallied late to pull away with a 30-25 win.

Corb led all players and was followed by classmate Christine Lopez with 17 kills and a stagerring .464 hitting percentage. Lopez also contributed four block assists while Corb tallied a solo block and two block assists. Christina Greenup added 12 kills for Loyola. Junior Krystal Biegaj was credited with 55 kills and 12 digs. Junior Jamie Arndt had 32 digs for a game-high.

Siena was led by Diana Wierzba with 13 kills and was followed by Christie Gustafson and Liz Hubbard with12 and Christa Glenn with 10.
