Lawrenceville, N. J. - Senior Nina Camaioni had a double-double as the Loyola University Maryland women's volleyball team defeated Rider University, 3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20), today in Lawrenceville, N. J.
Loyola (14-17, 8-9 MAAC) will be back in action for senior day Sunday at Reitz Arena against Manhattan. The match begins at 1 p.m.
Three Greyhounds had double-doubles for the match. Camaioni had 14 kills and 12 digs, sophomore Aubrey Kirven added 42 assists and 15 digs and freshman Nicole Sarby contributed 12 kills and 18 digs. Senior Brittany Born had 23 digs for Loyola.
The Broncs were led by Katelyn Thompson who had 10 kills for the match.
The Greyhounds took an early eight point lead in the first set at 14-6. The closest Rider came was within five points at 24-19 but the Greyhounds finished the set with a kill by Jac Bullock at 25-21. Loyola had a .172 hitting percentage to the Broncs .091.
In the second set, the Greyhounds took an early four point lead before Rider scored. Loyola had a 10 point lead at 20-10 and only let Rider score five more points before closing the set 25-15 with a serving error by the Broncs. Loyola had a .323 hitting percentage to Riders .094.
In the third set, the Broncs took any early four point lead before the Greyhounds scored with an attacking error by Rider. Loyola tied the score at nine and traded points back and forth. The score was finally tied at 16 before Rider went on a four point run. The Greyhounds were able to tie the score at 22 but Rider finished the set 25-22. Loyola had a .000 hitting percentage to the Broncs .043.
In the fourth set, Loyola had a six point lead with a kill by Jac Bullock. Rider was able to come within three at 14-11 but the Greyhounds kept the lead. Nicole Sarby had a kill at 24-19 and the Greyhounds finished the set and the match 25-20 with a kill by Katie Dircks. Loyola had a .260 hitting percentage to the Broncs .161.
