NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - Playing in her final college match, senior outside hitter Becky Corb tallied nine kills and added six digs, but the Greyhound volleyball team (7-25, 1-8) was unable to end the season on a positive note as Loyola was handed a three-game loss at Niagara University (16-9, 6-3) in the Greyhounds' season finale at the Gallagher Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Purple Eagles, who clinched a spot in the upcoming MAAC Tournament, won the match by scores of 30-13, 30-19 and 30-22.
Corb hit .091 in her final match as the Greyhounds struggled on offense in the season finale, recording a .063 hitting percentage. Senior libero Jamie Arndt tallied a team-high 11 digs for Loyola, while senior middle blocker Christine Lopez added four kills and two block assists.
Freshman Marcellee Williams registered 25 assists to go with eight digs in the loss.
Stephanie Hopkins and Michelle LeSouder led the Purple Eagles by combining for 34 kills and seven total blocks. Hopkins led all players with 19 kills and four total blocks. Jennifer Hansford had 28 assists in the victory for the Purple Eagles.
The Greyhounds end the season with an eight-match losing streak and a 7-25 overall record. The loss to Niagara ends the college careers of Corb, Arndt, Lopez and Krystal Biegaj .
