BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland rallied to win the fourth set after dropping the previous two, but Marist College used a 11-2 run in the fifth to win a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match, 19-25, 25-16, 25-18, 19-25, 15-6, on Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds turned a 17-15 deficit in the fourth game into a 20-18 lead on a Lauren Arnold kill, and Loyola pushed through to force a deciding fifth set.
Faye Lukas, who had 13 kills for Loyola, gave the Greyhounds a 3-2 advantage in the fifth, but Marist scored 11 of the next 13 points to take a 13-5 lead on the back end of two-straight Katie Estes aces.
Three Marist players had 11 or more kills, led by Mackenzie Stephens' match-high 19. Estes added 15, and Courtney Shaw had 11.
The Greyhounds close their regular-season on Sunday with a 2 o'clock match against Siena College in Reitz Arena. They will honor seniors Katie Dircks and Janet Pressler before their final collegiate match in a prematch ceremony.
