Final Stats

BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland jumped out to an early first-set lead, but Bucknell University closed the gap quickly and defeated the Greyhounds in three, 25-22, 25-13, 25-20.

Loyola (6-22 overall, 1-12 Patriot League) had back-to-back blocks and then benefitted from a Bucknell (12-12, 6-8) ball-handling error to lead, 6-2.

After a Bison timeout, a Molly Cichosz kill made it an 8-5 Greyhounds’ advantage, but Blake Buccholz registered the first of her match-high 14 kills to sideout for Bucknell and start a 6-0 Bison run.

Meghan Wentzel’s serving played a role in the run, as the Greyhounds struggled to pass evenly, allowing an Erika Eastley kill off an overpass. The Greyhounds then had three-straight hitting miscues.

Bucknell led 10-9 when the run was stopped by a Lauren Youngblood kill, but the Greyhounds would not hold a lead for the remainder of the match.

Buccholz hit .609 for the Bison, putting away her 14 kills without an error on just 23 attempts. She also had a team-high nine digs. Hailey Stout and Stephanie Occhiogrosso put away seven kills, as well.

Jane Lukas had a season-high seven kills, matching Haley Puddy for team-high honors. Micah Duzey led all players with 11 digs for the Greyhounds.

Loyola is back in action Sunday, Nov. 8, when it hosts Colgate University at 2 p.m. in Reitz Arena.
