Fairfield, Conn. - The Loyola University Maryland women's volleyball team lost to Fairfield, 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-19), today in Fairfield, Conn.
The Greyhounds (13-17, 7-8 MAAC) will be back in action Saturday against Rider at 1 p.m. and will play at Reitz Arena Sunday at 1 p.m. against Manhattan for senior night.
Freshman Nicole Sarby led the way for the Greyhounds with six kills. Sophomores Taylor Koncelik and Jac Bullock each chipped in four kills. Sophomore Aubrey Kirven contributed with 18 assists and five digs.
Alex Lopez had a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs for Fairfield and Rachel Romansky had 30 assists.
In the first set, the Greyhounds scored the first point but that wasn't enough for Fairfield who took an early five point lead at 10-5. Loyola came within three at 14-11 with a kill by Jac Bullock but the Stags only let the Greyhounds score four more points before ending the set 25-18. Loyola had a .037 hitting percentage to Fairfield's .308.
The Stags took an early three point lead the in second set before the Greyhounds scored with a kill by Jac Bullock. Fairfield took an early nine point lead at 13-4. Loyola came within eight at 20-12 but that wasn't enough for the Greyhounds as the set concluded 25-14. Loyola had a -.036 hitting percentage to the Stags .276.
The Greyhounds were down by seven at 10-3. They were able to come within five at 20-15 but that wasn't enough as Fairfield who closed the set and the match at 25-19. Loyola had a .059 hitting percentage to the Stags .361.
