New Rochelle, N.Y. - The Loyola College volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over a Iona College Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. The Greyhounds won games one and two 30-26 and game four 30-27. The Gales took game three by a score of 30-25. Loyola improves to 8-21 overall and 6-8 in the MAAC. Iona falls to 6-18 on the season and 4-11 in the league.
Sophomore Maddie Fuller led the `Hounds attack with 15 kills. Senior Blair Snyder, sophomore Rachel Schillinger and freshman Karlee Woodward followed with 12 kills each. Freshman setter Chrissey Cruz recorded 46 assists. Snyder led in digs with 25 while freshman Nicole Scimeme added 17. Freshman Kristen Muscarella and Cruz each recorded 13 digs. Schillinger and freshman Kelly Nevin each tallied 10 block assists while Woodward added two solo blocks and seven block assists.
For Iona, Shelley Erb led with 18 kills while Morgan Young and Katie Brilla each added 11. Alyssa Morals dished out 48 assists. Beth Holly and Young each recorded 19 digs. Erb recorded 18 digs.
The Greyhounds remain on the road, facing Manhattan on Sunday.
