Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College Volleyball team earned a 3-2 win in a thriller over Rider Saturday evening in Reitz Arena. The Greyhounds took game one 30-27 while the Broncs won game two 30-19 and game three 34-32. Loyola came back with a force and swept games four and five by scores of 32-30 and 16-14. The `Hounds improve to 7-20 on the season and 5-7 in conference play while Rider falls to 7-16 overall and 5-9 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Senior Blair Snyder led Loyola with 15 kills and four block assists. She was followed by freshman Karlee Woodward's 11 kills. Woodward also added two solo blocks and three block assists. Sophomore Rachel Schillinger added eight kills, a solo block and four block assists. Freshman setter Chrissey Cruz recorded six kills. Cruz dished out 40 assists while tallying 11 digs and two block assists. Freshman libero Kimi Gabriel was credited with a team-high 23 digs. Freshman Nicole Scimeme had 18 digs while Snyder added 16.
For Rider, Megan Smith led the game with 27 kills, one solo block and three block assists. She was joined in double-figures by Alex Chapla with 14, Lacey Johnson with 11 and Katrina Stehle with 10. Setter JoAnna Winter was credited with 62 assists and 11 digs. Amy Jeary tallied a game-high 26 digs. Johnson and Stehle added 17.
As a team, the Greyhounds recorded three solo blocks and 14 block assists to Rider's two solos and six assists.
