Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Loyola University Maryland women's volleyball team defeated Marist on the road 3-0, (25-18, 30-28, 25-16), today in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Greyhounds (10-16, 4-7 MAAC) will compete tomorrow at Siena at 2 p.m.
Loyola was led by senior Nina Camaioni who had a double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs. She had a .317 hitting percentage for the match. Camaioni also recorded three blocks including one solo block.
Freshman Jac Bullock had seven kills with a .455 hitting percentage and sophomore Aubrey Kirven had 28 assists for the match. Senior Brittany Born contributed 11 digs.
Leading the way for Marist was Grace Hill who had 13 kills with a .500 hitting percentage and Audra Brady had 30 assists.
In the first set, Marist scored the first point and the set was tied at four before Loyola went on a seven point run before the Red Foxes scored again. The score was 11-5 and the Greyhounds had the lead.
Marist came within a point at 17-16 but a serving error by the Red Foxes put Loyola in the lead by two. Marist would only score two more points before Loyola finished the set with a block and kill by Jac Bullock to end the set 25-18. Loyola had a .280 hitting percentage to Marist .029.
In the second set, Marist scored the first two points of the set before Loyola answered with a Kill by Nina Camaioni. The Red Foxes went up 8-1 before the Greyhounds answered with a kill by Simone Reid.
Marist was ahead by seven points at 17-10 before Loyola answered with three points with a kill by Aubrey Kirven, kill by Simone Reid and a block by Nina Camaioni and Taylor Koncelik. Loyola finally tied the set at 21 and took a one point lead with a serving ace Katie Dircks.
The set was tied three more times until the final tie at 28 and Loyola won the set with a block by Jac Bullock and Katie Dircks and an attaching error by Marist. Loyola had a .071 hitting percentage to the Red Foxes .082.
In the third set, Marist scored the first point before Loyola answered and took the lead with a kill by Jac Bullock. The score was tied at five before the Greyhounds took a four point lead before Marist answered. Loyola had a seven point lead at 17-10 before Marist scored.
The Greyhounds had the lead at 20-13 and the Red Foxes would only score three more points before the Greyhounds finished the set with a kill by Nina Camaioni. Loyola had a .414 hitting percentage to the Red Foxes .161. The Greyhounds had three errors for the set.
