Jersey City, N.J. - Loyola's volleyball team fell to Saint Peter's by a score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) match at the Peahens' Yanitelli Center.

The Peahens got off to a good start as they took Game One, 30-24, and Game Two, 30-23.

But Loyola, who is still looking for its first MAAC win, fought back in Game Three. The Greyhounds took a 5-4 lead in the third stanza -- their first advantage of the match -- and dominated the rest of the game en route to a 30-20 win to cut the hosts' lead to 2-1.

Saint Peter's however, countered a 9-6 deficit in Game Four with a 10-1 run and the Peahens would never look back in rolling to a 30-15 triumph to clinch the match.

Loyola was led by junior Becky Corb, who recorded a match-high 19 kills, while Krystal Biegaj added 42 assists and Jamie Arndt ran down 15 digs.

Saint Peter's Serra Soylu led the victors with 18 kills on a .400 hitting percentage, Gulhan Cakcak posted 16 kills, two aces and a block, and Valeria Kovaleva dished out 49 assists.

The Peahens improve to 4-16 overall and 2-1 in the MAAC as the Greyhounds fall to 5-16 overall and 0-4 in the MAAC.

Loyola returns to action when it heads to the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Wednesday, October 27th for a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m.
