ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Loyola outside hitters Christina Greenup and Nina Camaioni combined for 22 kills, as the Greyhounds hit .224 as a team and swept the U.S. Naval Academy, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22, in a non-conference match Tuesday night.

Camaioni hit .360 with 10 kills and only one error on 25 attempts, while Greenup led the Greyhounds with 12 kills. She hit .310 with three errors on 29 swings.

Tied 8-8 in the first set, Loyola scored 10 of the next 15 points, five on Greenup kills. After Navy (13-9 overall) pulled within one, 11-10, the Midshipmen committed a hitting error and two service miscues.

The Greyhounds were able to convert 80-percent of their sideout points, 17-of-21, in the first set.

Loyola (5-20) used another set of small rallies in the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match. With the score knotted at 10-10, Camaioni put away a kill, and Karlee Woodward and Kristen Muscarella locked up a block for a Loyola point. A Navy ball-handling error then gave the Greyhounds a three-point lead.

Abbie Merkel tied the set at 15-15 with an ace for Navy, but she then had a service error to give the serve back to Loyola. Another Midshipmen ball-handling error and one of Rachel Schillinger's seven kills put the Greyhounds back up three.

Navy pulled within two, 20-18, on a Loyola attack error, but the Greenup had two kills, and Schillinger another, and Navy committed two errors, and Loyola closed out the set.

The third, and deciding, set was much closer, featuring 15 tie scores and eight lead changes.

The Midshipmen went ahead by three, 13-10, on a Jessie Sims service ace, but three-straight attack errors by Aubrey Manes -- one coming on a block by Stasia Collins and Woodward -- tied the score.

An Alexa Gibbs service error broke an 18-18 tie and gave the Greyhounds a one-point advantage.

Collins put away a kill to put the Greyhounds ahead three, 23-20, but Krista Eschelman and Merkel each had kills, pulling Navy within one.

After a Loyola timeout, Camaioni closed the match with two kills.

She led the Greyhounds with 14 digs, as well, in the match. Kristen Muscarella had 29 assists and 11 digs.

Sims had eight kills and 15 digs for the Midshipmen.

The match was Loyola's final regular-season non-conference match of the season. The Greyhounds return to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Saturday, October 25, when they host Iona at 7 p.m.
