BUFFALO, NY - Loyola's volleyball team fell to Canisius 3-0 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) showdown at the Golden Griffs' Koessler Center on Sunday afternoon.
Canisius controlled the match throughout as they racked up a .342 team hitting percentage and "just played great volleyball and executed really well," according to Loyola assistant coach Molly McCarthy.
The Golden Griffs, who earned the five-seed in last year's MAAC tournament and were defeated twice last season by the Greyhounds, who were the MAAC's No. 4-seed in 2002, handled Loyola by game scores of 30-21, 30-21, and 30-22.
"Canisius had a lot more offense and they played great defense, while we just didn't execute," said McCarthy.
The Greyhounds, who managed just a .142 team hitting percentage, were led by Susanna Leffers' 15 kills and .235 hitting percentage and Beck Corb's 12 kills on a .143 hitting percentage.
Loyola falls to 2-20 overall and 1-2 in the MAAC with the loss.
