Volleyball Suffers Five-Game Loss At Saint Francis

LORETTO, Pa. - Despite 17 kills by senior outside hitter Becky Corb , the Greyhound volleyball team dropped its second straight match, a tough five-game loss to Saint Francis (Pa.) in a non-conference match at Stokes Athletic Center on Friday evening.

The Red Flash snapped their five-match losing streak by taking the match with scores of 30-21, 25-30, 30-26, 22-30 and 15-12.

Corb, who recorded her fifth double-double of the season, moved to within 13 kills of the Loyola career kills record of 1,436, which is held by Sarah Becker, '94. She also added 12 digs in the loss.

Freshman setter Marcellee Williams contributed her team-leading seventh double-double of the season in the loss with 45 assists and a career-high 17 digs.

Senior libero Jamie Arndt also added 24 digs for the Greyhounds while setter Krystal Biegaj recorded a season-high 16 digs.

Three different players recorded double-double efforts for the Red Flash, including Kristin Buter, who had a match-high 18 kills and 10 digs. Anne Roosevelt added 17 kills and 12 digs while Linda Dolansky had 13 kills with a team-high 18 digs.

It was the third time this season Loyola has been involved in a five-game match. The Greyhounds are now 1-2 in those matches this year.

Loyola returns home on Tuesday evening to face local rival UMBC at Reitz Arena beginning at 7:00 p.m.
