TUCSON, Ariz. - Faye Lukas and Simone Reid were named to the University of Arizona Wildcat Classic All-Tournament Team on Saturday evening as the Loyola University Maryland volleyball team closed the event with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-21 sweep of Wofford College.
Lukas had a match-high 13 kills, while Reid posted six kills on just 10 swings along with four total block in the Greyhounds victory.
Loyola (3-9 overall) bulilt a 10-5 first-set lead, and after the Terriers (5-9) drew within a pair, 12-10, the Greyhounds pushed out to a six-point lead thanks in part to four Wofford hitting errors.
The Greyhounds sided out to the tune of 78-percent in that first set, and while the second set was tigheter - Wofford tied the frame at 14-14 and held Loyola to a match-low .205 hitting percentage - Loyola scored four of the last six points to close the set.
In the third, and final, set Loyola built an eight-point advantage, 17-9, on a Lukas kill. Wofford drew back to within two, 21-19, but Loyola allowed just two more Terriers points while closing out the victory.
Earlier in the day, UC-Santa Barbara beat Loyola in three, 25-18, 25-11, 25-17.
Jane Lukas led the Greyhounds in that match with eight kills.
The Greyhounds play their first-ever Patriot League match on Friday, September 27, in Bethlehem, Pa., where they will take on Lehigh University.
