BUFFALO - Canisius College hit .318 in the first set and held Loyola University Maryland to a -.172 mark in the same game, jumping out front for a 25-8, 25-17, 26-24, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds (8-5 overall, 1-1 MAAC) led through the first few points of the opening set, and Mindy Maloney tied it at 6-6 with a kill, but then Canisius (6-7, 2-1) scored 10 unanswered points and 19 of 21 to close the frame.
Loyola again went up in the early going of the second set, taking an 8-7 advantage on a Canisius attack error, but the Golden Griffins slowly chipped away and built a lead.
In the third set, Loyola led by four, 16-12, on a Jac Bullock kill, but an attack error would give Canisius a sideout point, one of four-straight they would score to tie the game at 16-16 on a Samantha Good kill.
Bullock led Loyola with 10 kills, while Faye Lukas had eight kills and 10 blocks.
The Greyhounds continue their Western New York road trip on Sunday when they play at Niagara University at 2 o'clock.
