TUCSON, Ariz. - Faye Lukas posted 14 kills, but visiting Loyola University Maryland lost in three, 25-12, 25-14, 25-19, to the University of Arizona in the Greyhounds' first match at the Wildcat Classic at McKale Center.
The Greyhounds (2-8 overall) hit .308 in the final set of the match, but they could not keep pace with the Wildcats (8-2) who hit .352 total for the match.
Lukas put Loyola on top in the first five points of the final set, but Arizona opened up an 8-3 lead with five-straight points to take control of the deciding frame.
Olivia Magil led Arizona with 10 points, and Madi Kingdon had eight. Both Wildcats hit .533 in the match.
The Greyhounds wrap up play in Tucson on Saturday with a pair of matches. They take on UCSB at 12:30 p.m. (Mountain) and Wofford College at 4:00 p.m. (Mountain).
