Bears Rally To Escape Volleyball At Delaware Invitational

NEWARK, Del. - Morgan State University rallied from a first-set loss Saturday at the Delaware Invitational to beat Loyola University Maryland volleyball, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18.

Loyola (5-9 overall) held the Bears (3-11) to just seven kills in the first set, and Morgan State committed seven hitting errors in the stanza for a .000 hitting percentage.

The Greyhounds, however, hit just .076 the rest of the match, a percentage reduced by 10 total blocks by the Bears.

Stacey Kazalas led Loyola with 17 kills, just one off her career-high from earlier this season; she also had 12 digs for a double-double. Molly Cichosz posted 12 kills and was in on four blocks; Cichosz was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 3.0 kills per set this weekend.

Loyola had 11 total blocks in the match, led by Corri Waters’ six. Haley Puddy was in on five, while Molly Werts and Danielle Hillman each chipped in on three.

The Greyhounds play one final regular-season non-conference match before commencing Patriot League action. Loyola heads to Washington, D.C., for a 7 p.m. match at George Washington University on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
